In this follow-up to our “Daughters of Light” program, Trobár continues exploring the music and experience of medieval nuns, from both western and eastern traditions. These women renounced their earthly lives, including their families, and in so doing became mothers and sisters to each other, and daughters to those who preceded them. We consider this familial aspect of nuns’ lives through their music and writings. Along with special guest artist Photini Downie Robinson, herself a Greek cantor and expert in Byzantine chant, we bring returning guests Rosemary Heredos, Nadia Tarnawsky, Karin Weston, and the percussive skills of Allen Otte.
